Elevating the Citibin Brand
A Modern Identity Rooted in Modularity and Innovation
When serial entrepreneur Liz Picarazzi set out to create CITIBIN, she transformed a simple frustration—finding a durable and attractive trash enclosure—into a national brand offering smart outdoor storage solutions. CITIBIN re-imagines recycling management, mail and package protection, and other outdoor storage needs with sleek, durable, and thoughtfully engineered designs.
As Senior Art Director at Connecting Dots Guru, I co-created the CITIBIN logo alongside Sue Kramer. Our collaboration exemplifies a special synergy and a custom design process inspired by Bauhaus principles and the concept of modularity. Just as CITIBIN’s enclosures are versatile and scalable, our design for the brand identity needed to reflect a modern, functional, and adaptable aesthetic.

A Bauhaus-Inspired Identity for a Modern Urban Solution
Drawing on Bauhaus design principles, we embraced simplicity, geometry, and efficiency. The result was a logo that seamlessly communicates CITIBIN’s modular approach to outdoor storage while maintaining a strong visual presence. The bold, clean forms and carefully crafted typographic elements emphasize durability and innovation.

A Strategic and Creative Process
This project followed a thoughtful and comprehensive design approach
- Discover: Research into outdoor storage solutions and the urban landscapes where CITIBIN products thrive.
- Strategize: Defining CITIBIN’s visual identity to communicate a balance of strength, innovation, and modern simplicity.
- Explore: Creating mood boards inspired by Bauhaus design, experimenting with geometric forms, and sketching modular logo concepts.
- Develop: Refining the logo for scalability across print and digital applications, including product labeling and marketing collateral.
- Implement: Delivering a flexible identity system that reflects CITIBIN’s growth as a national brand.

A Lasting Impact
Our work on the CITIBIN logo has become a cornerstone of the brand’s visual identity, representing its commitment to thoughtful design and functionality. The synergy between Sue Kramer and me as co-creators, combined with our shared vision for modularity and innovation, resulted in a visual identity that continues to support CITIBIN’s success in markets across the country.
